Caring for babies’ gums and teeth

At birth, our tongue is the only fully developed organ we have. It’s needed for sucking and it’s our primary organ for survival, expressing ourselves and to explore our new world.

• Before the earliest tooth appears, make sure to wipe gums with wet cloth.

• After the first set of primary teeth begin to show, use a soft baby-approved toothbrush and a small amount of toothpaste.

• Don’t share spoons or cups; saliva has bacteria that causes tooth decay.

• Try to avoid putting your baby asleep with milk, juice or other food that’s rich in sugar. new pacients
